Digressions: My Life in 500 Words or Less

This is going to be a short blog. But that’s a good thing.

I’ve been reaping the rewards of previous submissions in the form of seeing copies of my work in print and online, resulting in a lot of posting and sharing. Additionally, I’ve been submitting my work quite a bit.

Today I found the latest issue of ellipsis ... literature and art, which includes my novel excerpt “Dead Brown Boys,” was live online. I am on cloud nine. I am slated to receive contributor’s copies and an honorarium this month.

Also, a little less than two weeks ago, I received my copy of Blue Unicorn, a magazine that includes my poem “Regret (with apologies to Edna St. Vincent Millay).” The publication date of my poem had been uncertain. The editor had said the issue it was to appear in was one of the next two, depending on layout, so when it arrived it was a pleasant surprise.

Finally, yesterday I logged submissions number 28 and 29 for 2023. My annual goal — intended to be easily achieved in order to motivate me — was 12 submissions for the year.

I’ve been posting across my social media platforms about all this activity. That means I've been shuffling my schedule a bit, so I'm keeping this blog short.

Being so busy never felt so good.
