Digressions: My Life in 500 Words or Less

Updated: Jun 10, 2022

Becca decided we should name him Skully because his head looked like a skull when I first rolled it out. I agreed to it because I was just happy to be building a snowman.

Thursday, Jan. 6, saw our first — and probably only for this season — measurable snowfall.. And we couldn’t have been happier.

If you know Becca and me you know we are firmly in that group who enjoy snow. We have the crazy notion winter should have ... you know ... winter weather. I know: radical thinking.

And, for us, it’s not just the desire for the season to have appropriate weather, we truly enjoy snow. Watching it. Playing in it. Walking in it.

The unfortunate truth — for us, anyway — is that measurable snowfall each winter seems to be getting more and more uncommon. But that makes us appreciate the snow we get even more, I think.

Yes, crazy as it might sound to some, I would be miserable at a beach in December, January or February. The beach holds very little interest for me in general, and during winter months interest drops to zero.

Others can travel south for the winter and enjoy the beaches. I am happy for their happiness.

In the meantime, I will continue to wish for more snow here during the winter, as unlikely as that might be.

I feel we need it so we can build a Moulder snowman.
